The appropriate proportion of terpenes to produce ice cream varies from 0.025 to 0.1 ml per 1 kg of ice cream, or in other words, from 0.25 ml to 1 ml for approximately 10 kg of ice cream, depending on the type of ice cream (as they can also be mixed with other ice cream flavors such as vanilla, cream, chocolate…) and the desired aromatic intensity.
How to add terpenes to ice cream?
There are different ways to make ice cream, but to apply terpenes we only differentiate between adding terpenes to water-based ice creams/sorbets or fat-based ice creams.
Fat-based ice creams:
- Add terpenes once all the ingredients have been incorporated, especially the fatty ingredients (cream, milk, yogurt, etc.). Since terpenes are naturally liposoluble, you can use any of our flavorings without any issues.
Water-based ice creams/sorbets:
- Add terpenes once the mixture contains the water base, sugars, etc. Preferably, you should use special beverage terpenes, although depending on the process, any terpene can be used.
Remember that the proportion of terpenes for ice cream is 0.025 ml to 0.1 ml per 1kg, depending on the ice cream base, the terpenes you are using (even though they are all pure, they have different aromatic intensities), and the desired intensity. If you’re going to produce ice cream, we recommend conducting tests with varying amounts or performing multiple tests to determine your preferred proportions before starting to make it.
What effects does ice cream with terpenes have?
Terpenes have properties associated with aromatherapy (entourage effect, etc.), as well as beneficial properties when used in the appropriate proportions. However, they do NOT have psychoactive effects as they do not contain any THC or any other cannabinoids.
