E-liquids provide a healthier alternative for tobacco smokers. Although they tend to be reasonably affordable, creating your own e-liquids not only can help you save money but also gives you the chance to customize your vape juice to your liking.
Why make your own e-liquids with terpenes?
Making your own e-liquids is simpler than you might think, and doing so provides greater control over the substances you’re vaping. The composition of e-liquids can vary, and this is a crucial factor in reducing potential risks associated with vaping.
Moreover, adding flavours of your favourite cannabis strains to your e-liquids is easier than it seems. With the terpenes (cannabis aromas and flavours) from Cali Terpenes, you can now enjoy the flavours of highly acclaimed strains in a quick and simple way.
Vaping has proven to be a much healthier alternative than smoking tobacco, and Cali Terpenes’ e-liquids can be a viable tool to quit smoking. Adding terpenes to your blends can help you overcome the anxiety that comes with quitting or reducing smoking. Some terpenes present in the composition of cannabis have relaxing and anti-anxiety properties, among other effects produced by vaping terpenes.
Besides, they have delicious flavours and aromas! Take note, because here’s what you’ll need…
Required Ingredients (for 51 ml of e-liquid)
- 1 ml terpenes by Cali Terpenes, in this case Critical Jack’s.
- 40 ml PG (Propylene Glycol). You can find this in 1L and 100 ml format on our website.
- 10 ml VG (Vegetable Glycerin), available on our website in 100 ml format.
In this case, we’ll be using an 80% PG / 20% VG ratio for the e-liquid base, as it’s one of the most common. However, Cali Terpenes’ e-liquids are formulated with less vegetable glycerin (approximately 10%).
Cali Terpenes recommends a maximum of 15/20% vegetable glycerin in the e-liquid base to ensure both a taste faithful to the aroma provided, and healthier vaporization.
You can change the proportion of the e-liquid base or the amount of terpenes according to your preference, but we advise to use a maximum of 20% vegetable glycerin and a maximum of 4% terpenes by Cali Terpenes.
Required Equipment
- Gloves
- Graduated Cylinder
- Erlenmeyer Flask
- Magnetic Stirrer (not strictly necessary, but it greatly reduces mixing time and makes the mix more homogeneous).
Procedure
1- Add the PG (Propylene Glycol) to the graduated cylinder.
2- Next, add the VG (Vegetable Glycerin) to the graduated cylinder that already contains the PG.
3-Add the PG and VG mixture to the Erlenmeyer flask, to which you’ll have already added the magnet needed for the magnetic stirrer.
4- Add 1 ml of terpenes to the 50 ml of e-liquid base in the flask (provided the proportion of terpenes is 2%). Seal the flask to prevent any losses.
5- Place the flask on the magnetic stirrer and gradually increase the speed.
6- Soon, you’ll have your mix ready. Having said that, since mixing with a stirrer requires no physical effort, you can leave it running for a few hours to ensure a superior-quality mix.

My e-liquid turned out cloudy, is that normal ?
What process causes it to become cloudy? Adding terpenes? It’s sometimes common for e-liquids to turn cloudy when adding vegetable glycerin, certain terpenes, or cannabinoids.
A common fix for cloudiness in e-liquids is to stir a bit longer, ideally using a magnetic stirrer
