Lets go over some of the details of this amazing event at Beervanachile alongside the restaurant Honest Mike – you won’t want to miss out on the next one!
- Tasting New Products at Beervana Chile
Beer tasting is similar to wine tasting or cannabis tasting, as different parameters are analyzed such as appearance, aroma and flavor.
How to Taste Beer
Experience and knowledge on how the tasted products are made is necessary to properly taste test a product. When this isn’t the case, the general ideas to keep in mind are:
- Appearance.
- Aroma.
- Flavor.
- Mouth feel.
- General impression.
Just like with cannabis tasting, for example, you need to keep in mind that each beer is made differently, and personal taste shouldn’t come into it, rather how the work is done. When you know a bit more about how beer is made, you need to keep in mind:
- Fermentation type (Sour, Lager etc.)
- Beer style (IPA, Stout etc.)
- Bitterness (IBU).
- The additional ingredients used (honey, fruit, or terpenes, for example).
- Alcohol level (ABV).
Tasting Alameda Beer Company’s New Products
The amazing brewery team over at Alameda Beer never stops creating. They had over 40 different tastings ready when the time came, and we only tried the latest new products including:
- Crazy Hazy IPA: A Hazy IPA beer created alongside En Volá with various types of hops and Blackberry Kush terpenes special for drinks. Highly aromatic, with tropical and fruity notes, and ultra-dank hints of Kush. ABV: 6.3% IBU:30.
- Envolager: Alameda Beer Company and En Volá’s latest success. A German Pils-style lager with Girl Scout Cookies terpenes, medium bitterness, citric and herbal with slight herbal tones. ABV: 4.9% IBU: 30.
- Pedro, Hans & Helmut: a golden lager, shiny and clear, with a profile focused on pale german malt. Super refreshing.
- Guacho: this West Coast Style IPA was made using a large amount of Moisaic hops. A tropical aroma and herbal notes. Alongside Cripi and Envolager, one of our favorites of the tasting.
- Malabarina: this refreshing Imperial Sour Ale balances sweet and citric tones in its flavor and aroma, made using natural juice and lactose.
Alongside Ben by Alameda Beer, we explain the processes of each beer and the reasoning behind their aromas, as well as why terpene profiles were added, how to use them, how much eas used for each beer etc.
The guests at the tasting and the questions asked were incredibly interesting. It was without a doubt an enriching evening for everyone. We’re sure that there will be more tastings to come.
Have you tried Cripi or Envolager? Your opinion matters – let us know in the comments below what you think or if you have any questions.
Until next time!
