Cannabis terpene profiles are taking over when it comes to the food industry; due to containing more different types of terpenes compared to other plants and fruit, they can be used to add amazing aromas and flavors to dishes and drinks. This complexity is what has attracted many people around the world, which is also why many more companies are beginning to use cannabis terpenes for their creations when it comes to food.
Sparkling Wing with Cannabis Terpene Profiles
The creators of this wine, a couple that is in charge of the bodega where it was created, say that it wasn’t an easy process to figure out how to give life to their creations. This is the first ever wine in Latin-America that’s linked to cannabis culture via its flavor, and thanks to our hydro-soluble cannabis terpene profiles it achieves the perfect complex mix of cannabis flavors.
This brut wine does not contain any psychoactive ingredients; it only contains cannabis flavors, without any cannabinoids such as THC or CBD. However, as we’ve already explained many times, each of the terpenes contained in our terpene profiles (Linalool, Caryophyllene, Terpinolene…) have their own effects and benefits which act alongside eachother.
How was Terpénica Created?
Mariano Sisti and Florencia Burgoa, a couple from the Mendoza region in Argentina, are the pair responsible for this wine. Together, they run the Piedras 202 bodega, a family business located in an old house with over a hundred years of history behind it.
The couple seemed to have combined forces with Terpénica; Sisti is a cannabis aficionado, and Burgoa is a third generation viticulturist. Whether it’s with the complex aromas offered by cannabis, or deciphering the different notes and flavors left behind by a good wine, those that love complex flavors are always looking for new experiences. Just like the creators explain, Terpénica replicates cannabis aromas, specific strains, which is why it’s such a delight for the senses.
Terpénica is a brand new sensation and their creators have already received offers to produce it in other countries such as the US. However, they prefer to keep their base of operations in Mendoza, although they have high expectations and are planning to export wan to other countries.
Is Cannabis-Flavored Sparkling Wine Legal?
It wasn’t fast or easy to get the necessary licenses to start selling sparkling cannabis flavored wine, although after a lot of work the authorities understood that it simply replicates cannabis flavors without containing any psychoactive elements.
Argentina has gone from being an entirely prohibitionist market to regulation medicinal cannabis over the last few years. This has caused the cannabis industry to flourish with great potential. In fact, at Cali Terpenes we’ve seen this with our own eyes, just last month at the Expocannabis, one of the biggest cannabis events in the world.
Finally, after years of trying, the Piedras 202 Bodega obtained the necessary licenses from the National Viticulture Institute to categorize their wine as sparkling, which must contain at least 86% bubbles, leaving the rest for other allowed compounds, making sure not to violate any Argentinian health codes.
Terpénica was approved of course, as Cali Terpenes fully complies with all of the regulations set in place by the organizations that had to review the product, mainly the National Medication, Food and Medical Tech Administration (ANMAT), the National Food Institute (INAL), and the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI).
In reality, there’s no reason to prohibit a sparking wine with cannabis flavoring, nor any other drink which contains our terpenes – they don’t contain any cannabinoids. Cali Terpenes’ are extracted from other legal fruit and plants, and they’re combined in the exact same proportions requires to replicate cannabis terpene profiles.
The molecules are the same, which means that Limonene is the exact same when it’s found in cannabis resin as when it’s found in lemons. That’s why our terpene profiles guarantee the authentic flavor and aroma produced by cannabis, and they’re also perfectly legal to use for gastronomic purposes.
That’s why this wine can be sold in other countries, regardless of their laws relating cannabis.
